Easy diy Jellyfish costume for last minute ideas.

Halloween is just around the corner, and I know what that means:

  1. You’re frantically trying to put together a costume that your child asked for (oh, only me?).
  2. It has to be so unique that none of their friends are doing.

Fear not, mama!

I’ve got some great ideas for how you can be a DIY queen this year.

Halloween is a time for creativity, but it’s also about being comfortable. Don’t get me wrong—I LOVE the idea of putting together an elaborate/ unique costume that makes people do a double-take, but if it takes too much work or isn’t comfortable, you might as well just wear a mask.

So, here is my take on a super simple take on the jellyfish Halloween costume.

As a busy mom, I am always pressed for time especially around Halloween.

And literally every year, my daughter will ask me to “make” her a costume.
And every year I oblige.

If you are familiar with the show Tayo the Little Bus, thats what my daugter wanted to be one year.

She was obseseed with Tayo that year.

The next year, I prayed that she would choose something much simpler, but nopeee, she asked me to make her “Roy”the firetruck from ‘Robo Car Poli”.

On Halloween, top he neighborhood firetruck strolled through our neighborhood and got a real kick out of her costume.

And then at age 5 we looked through pinterest and she really wanted to be a Jellyfish!

Pheww, I thought.
Finally something I could do that would be quick and easy!

Jellyfish Costume Supplies:

It’s very easy to make this Jellyfish costume.

The clear umbrella isn’t a necessity. If you have an umbrella in a different color go for it! You can always use an umbrella that you own and cover it in colored fabric.

The reason I like this umbrella is because off the bubble shape.

It gives a very realistic look of a Jellyfish…Umm. maybe not realistic, but very cartoony-and recognizable amongst most people.

The fabric we used for the tentacles and the purple tassel was suppose to be used for a “Frozen” inspired outfit for my daughter. But we eventually decided this would be a better use for the fabric.

Items needed:

Clear umbrella

1 yard of Fabric

2 Large eyes

Instructions:

1. Cut the fabric width-wise so you are cutting the longest part of the fabric (about 40 pieces).

2. Tie (or glue) the cut up pieces of fabric onto the base of the umbrella.

3. Add the eyeballs (mine had adhesive backs).

And you’re done!!

4. Optional: you can add lights to the costume or any other creative ideas you have! My daughter wanted to add the purple tassels to the base of the umbrella where the fabric is tied.
