diy-zipper-pouch

I like to make a lot of things, zipper pouches being one of them, but because I’m a serial crafter I’m usually hopping around different crafts depending on my mood. The other day I wanted to create a really easy zipper pouch for my toddler. I suppose you can use this for anyone, but I feel like this is a fun and kid-friendly diy. So, my daughter has  markers, crayons, and little toy figurines all over the house, I needed something that she can have for her own. Lately she’s been obsessed with “purses” and this mama just isn’t in the mood for sewing a zipper pouch. So, I created this kid friendly zipper pouch with only 2 items!!

I used a plastic gallon ziplock bag and duck tape (that’s the brand of tape) and that’s it. If you’re going to do this diy I highly recommend you go with the sliding ziplock bag NOT the ones you’ve got to snap with your fingers. It just makes life easier on the person using them, especially if that person is a toddler. All I have in my home are gallon ziplock bags and sandwich ziplock bags, So use what you have in stock if necessary.

You can find lots of fun designs on duct tape nowadays and you could probably also use washi tape for this project if you wanted to get all fancy. But, I was looking for something fast and easy to complete. The one thing I needed was the duck tape, I went to the store and was  disappointed with the selection they had, but you can find some really nice designs online if this is a project you plan on doing in the future and not right away. Click here to see some cute Duck Tape designs.

A word of caution before beginning. I chose a design that didn’t necessarily have a pattern, that way if I had to overlap the tape for whatever reason, the final product design wouldn’t look too janky.

Directions for 2 item zipper pouch

1.) Fold your gallon ziplock bag in half so that it resembles a zipper pouch. img_6239

2.) Begin taping on one side of your bag. I started from the top, but looking back, starting at the bottom, is probably easier. img_6241

3.) Flip to the other side, repeat, and your finished! Too easy. img_6242

If you try this project how will you use this as? Makeup pouch, pencil-case? leave me a comment below, I ‘d love to hear what you’ve done with your easy diy zipper pouch.
